Data Administration (DA) is the organizational function responsible for regulating the main data items shared by all information systems (ISs) in the organization. Similar to the function of the DBA, which is responsible for databases, the DA is responsible for the Data Dictionary - in other words, for defining the main data entities of the organization, including tables and primary routines (global objects in OO language). DA commands a clear, strong role in many organizations around the globe, though less in certain countries.
