COCOMO

COCOMO (COnstructive COst MOdel) is an IT cost assessment model. Developed by Boehm in 1981, the model is based on a number of code lines called Delivered Source Instructions (DSI), acting as a primary index for assessing the "physical size" of the system. The size is one indication of the number of personnel required for system development, and that number in turn enables evaluation of the system cost of ownership. The cost of ownership is based on fifteen "cost factors" that take various environmental parameters into consideration: system characteristics, computer characteristics, personnel characteristics and project characteristics (work methods, tools etc.)
