CMM (Capability Maturity Model) is a model for assessing the maturity of an organization engaged in software development and maintenance. The model divides organizational maturity into five levels, from Initial upward to Optimizing. This model was developed for the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) by the Software Engineering Institute (SEI), associated with CMU University of Pittsburgh, U.S.A.
