BPRBPR (Business Process Re-engineering) is an innovative method of analyzing and re-engineering the way in which an organization does business, while emphasizing business and technical aspects alike. The technical side involves simplifying and shortening processes, and improving the means of reducing the scope of organizational functions and structures, in order to enhance both customer services (from a single point of service) and intra-organizational processes. On the business side, BPR is designed to address the organization's business fundamentals and to "lose" all superfluous processes. The emphasis on the technical aspects focuses on increased use of modern technologies, such as Object Orientation, Client-Server Systems, Open Systems, Groupware etc. together with the reintroduction of well-known techniques and methods such as Data Administration (which is designed to define a uniform Data Glossary, rather than a database, for the entire organization). At the practical technical and individual system levels, BPR is mentioned in many MethodA kits. In a general sense, BPR is incorporated in strategic planning.
